When Net Friends learned of the opportunity to support the Triangle Land Conservancy’s Force for Nature (TLC) Gala as a Habitat Hero sponsor, we didn’t hesitate. We’re big believers in taking care of our own backyard, and supporting the organizations that protect our natural spaces is simply in our DNA.

TLC has been quietly doing extraordinary work for decades, safeguarding thousands of acres of forests, wetlands, and farmland across the Triangle region of North Carolina. The gala celebrates their vital mission and honors the community dedicated to preserving the nature that sustains us.

For Net Friends, being in that room felt natural. We're a local company. Our team lives here, hikes here, raises kids here. The forests and greenways that TLC protects are the same ones we visit on weekends and the same ones that make the Triangle a place worth building a life around.

Why We Show Up

Net Friends has long held that being a good technology partner means being a good community partner. That belief shapes not just how we serve our clients, but how we invest our time and resources outside of our work. Each year, we look for opportunities to support local causes that align with our values, and environmental stewardship sits near the top of that list.

Climate-conscious thinking also influences how we operate our business. From responsible e-waste disposal to energy-efficient infrastructure choices, we try to bring the same care to our environmental footprint that we bring to our clients' networks. Attending events like the TLC gala keeps us connected to the broader ecosystem of people working on these issues locally.

Net Friends Fun Fact: Our solar panels have provided a sustained reduction in our energy bill of 60%.

An Evening Worth Celebrating

The gala itself was a beautiful reminder of what the community looks like at its best. Conservationists, farmers, civic leaders, and business owners mingled with a shared sense of purpose. Stories were told about land that had been saved from development and about the partnerships that made it possible.

It's hard to leave an evening like that without feeling genuinely energized. The work TLC does isn't abstract. It's visible in the green corridors along Jordan Lake, in the forested ridgelines outside Durham, in the creek-side trails that families use every single day. Knowing that organizations like TLC are actively expanding and protecting those spaces is a reason for real optimism.

Community Commitment as a Business Value

Net Friends was founded on the belief that great IT support is personal. Supporting conservation work is also a statement about the kind of future we want to build together. As the Triangle continues to grow, the decisions we make now about land, development, and environmental stewardship will define what this place looks like for the next generation. We want to be on the right side of those decisions.

To every organization doing the patient, unglamorous work of protecting what matters - thank you. We're proud to be in your corner.
